Halomonas appeared in the midgut of MED B. tabaci verified by application of the v4-v5 region of using dissected midguts (A) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (B,C). (D) Phylogenetic tree revealed the relationship of this Halomonas strain with the other published ones. New bacteria-specific probes (green) conjugated to cy5 were used, and the nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue). Portiera is used as a control for Halomonas. Portiera-specific probe (red) is expected not to have occurred in the gut of B. tabaci.
