Table 2.

Assessment of the six dermatoscopic parameters of stability of vitiligo

No. Dermatoscopic parameters Sensitivity Specificity PPV NPV LR+ LR LR+/LR
1. Border (sharp) 94.1% 100% 100% 95.5% - 0.254 -
2. Pigment network (absent/reticulate) 92.9% 96.8% 96% 94.3% 21.8 0.3 181
3. Perilesional hyperpigmentation 89.2% 85.4% 84% 90.2% 5.15 0.443 29.1
4. Perifollicular pigmentation 66.5% 81.4% 73.6% 75.6% 2.63 1.13 5.01
5. Absence of satellite lesion 99.6% 34% 60.8% 98.6% 1.43 0.618 -
6. Absence of micro-Koebner 100% 11.9% 55.9% 100% 1.1 - -

PPV = positive predictive value, NPV = negative predictive value, LR = likelihood ratio

LR value of 1 indicates that the tests provide no additional information and LR above or below 1 increases or decrease the likelihood of stable vitiligo, respectively.
