Distance to the electron optical axis as a function of position calculated by geometrically tracing back the electron trajectories. The top row shows the rays when the field sweeps from positive to negative and the bottom row shows the rays when the field sweeps from negative to positive. The left column shows the trajectories just before the first electrons are transmitted through the aperture and the right column the trajectories just after the last electrons transmitted through the aperture. The blanker is located at x = 0 μm, the blur at all these positions is less than 5 nm.
