Figure 1. Synthesis and characterization of the Fe3O4Au core-shell NPs.

Figure 1.

(a) Schematics of the fabrication procedures for FACSNPs (b) SEM images of Fe3O4 NS, Fe3O4-AuNS and FACSNPs drop-cast onto a conductive silicon substrate. The element composition of FACSNPs was analyzed by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy shown in the bottom right panel. (c) The UV-Vis spectra of Fe3O4 NS, Fe3O4-AuNSs and FACSNPs. The experiment data shows very good agreement with the simulation results on the extinction spectra of FACSNPs. The inset panel displays the enhanced localized electromagnetic field surrounding the AuNPs immobilized on the Fe3O4 core. (d) Magnetization curves of the Fe3O4 NS and FACSNPs, suggesting the superparamagnetic characteristics of the NPs. The inset figure shows the effect of external magnetic field on FACSNPs in aqueous dispersion.
