In HSCs, TGF-β1 induces MAT2A expression via p65 phosphorylation, which results in decrease of SAM concentration and consequential increase of α-SMA and COL1A1 expressions. PP2Cα small molecular activator NPLC0393 downregulates MAT2A by inhibiting phosphorylation of p65, thereby maintaining intracellular SAM concentration.
