Endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) treatment promotes the activation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and expression of brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) on day 7 in the ischemic brain; however, these effects are not maintained after pretreatment with Nω‐nitro‐l‐arginine methyl ester (L‐NAME). Western blot analyses of the activation of eNOS (A) and the expression of BDNF and VEGF (B) in the ischemic brains of mice in various groups (n = 3/group).
