A schematic illustration of the two-stage deep learning based method for cartilage segmentation is shown. At first, the femoral head center and the femoral fovea capitis were identified with the use of a multitask landmark detection network (Fig. 3). After that the original data was cropped to include the hip only. Then the Latent3DU-net cartilage segmentation network was applied.
