Primary and spontaneously transformed mesothelial cells, cultured for 72 h in (a) normal serum conditions (5% FCS) and in (b) low serum conditions (0.5% FCS), and proliferation assessed by counting viable cells using trypan blue exclusion. Results expressed as mean fold change of viable cell counts ± SEM when compared to cells at time 0. (c) Representative primary and spontaneously transformed mesothelial cells, MTM and MTMhp (42), respectively, were cultured with Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) to determine percentage of cells transiting S phase over 24 h.
