 Transformation analysis. (a) Anchorage‐independent growth assay. HeLa pSRP control and pSRP/MIF knockdown cells were plated in soft agar as described in the Materials and methods section. Fifteen days later, colony formation was examined and subjected to microscope photography. All photographs of cells are at the same scale. Numbers of colonies per examined field are shown at the right. (b) In vivo tumour formation assay. HeLa pSRP control and pSRP/MIF knockdown cells were injected into nude mice as described in the Materials and methods section. Twenty days later, animals were sacrificed and photographs were taken during post‐mortem examination.
