Detection of steroid secretion. Secretion of testosterone (a) and cortisol (b) in medium were detected by ELISA testing after UC‐MSCs and BM‐MSCs had been induced to differentiate into steroidogenic cells after being infected with adenovirus containing SF‐1 cDNA and cultured for 7 days, in the presence of cAMP. Control cultures were incubated in growth medium alone. Values are means ± SD (= 3). *< 0.01 relative to respective controls. #< 0.01 relative to differentiated BM‐MSCs. ND, not detectable.
