Illustration of prospective task-driven imaging using a robotic C-arm. Preoperative data from a diagnostic CT scan may be used for both preoperative planning (e.g., defining the interventional approach) and prospective design of the intraoperative scan. That is, an initial CT may be used to define the location of interest and the anatomical model used in predicting data characteristics like noise in projection data. The proposed task-driven workflow (white arrows) integrates knowledge, which is conventionally ignored (gray arrows), directly into acquisition design with the goal of optimized performance.
