Figure 1.

Phenotypic characterization of pp7l T-DNA insertion mutants. A, Phenotypes of 3-week–old wild-type (Col-0) and the different pp7l mutant plants grown in LD (16-h light/8-h dark) conditions. The maximum quantum yield of PSII (Fv/Fm) was measured with an imaging Chl fluorometer (Imaging PAM). Scale bar = 1 cm. B, The abaxial surface of leaves of plants grown in LD conditions reveals enhanced anthocyanin accumulation in pp7l plants. Anthocyanins were extracted and quantified photometrically, and amounts are reported in arbitrary units (a.u.). Data are shown as mean values ± sd from three different plant pools. Each pool contained >20 plants. Significant differences between the data pairs were identified by Tukey’s test, and significant differences (P < 0.05) with respect to Col-0 are indicated by asterisks.
