Differential expression of genes encoding enzymes involved in A. niger citrate metabolism. Enzymes and pathways are colour coded according to their transcriptional changes in the iron and supplement experiments. Red colour indicates higher expression in the condition with higher citrate production compared to the condition that had a lower citrate per glucose production (++Fe in the iron experiment), or total citrate production (arginine in the supplement experiment). Similarly, blue indicates lower expression in the conditions with either a higher citrate per glucose yield, or higher total citrate production.
