The FMN is shielded from bulk solvent by the two highlighted helices 371:380 and 572:585 that harbor F375, F379, and F573 creating a hydrophobic pocket absent in other OYEs. The hydride-donating N5 of the FMN is in close proximity of H26 in DCR, which is replaced by a hydrophobic V38 in NCR
