Longitudinal changes in brain age gap across brain regions. The distribution of brain age gaps across brain regions based on the longitudinal 1.5 T MRI sample. Brain age gaps from the MS sample are compared with the cross-sectional 3 T HC sample and residualized for age, age², sex, and scanner. The full brain estimates showed a significant accelerated rate of brain aging compared to chronological aging [annual increase in brain age gap 0.41 (p = 0.008)]. Cohen's D effect sizes for the brain age gap between MS and HC are depicted using the color bar. All BAG estimates are depicted as black circles on the x-axes.
