MMP8 protein expression is significantly reduced in whole colon tissue of THC/SIV rhesus macaques. Immunoprecipitation/Western blotting was performed twice with the same samples. RT-qPCR confirmed significant upregulation of miR-204, a miRNA computationally predicted to directly target MMP8, in colonic epithelium of THC/SIV rhesus macaques (D). The RT-qPCR analysis was performed twice with the same samples. Immunoprecipitation/western blot densitometry data (C) was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U-test. RT-qPCR data were analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon's rank sum test for independent samples. The error bars represent standard error of mean fold change within each group.
