The sink tap was operated for 30 s and the effect of drain position and drainage condition was assessed. Cyclone samples are expressed as mean ± standard deviation colony forming units (cfu) and the settle plates as mean ± standard deviation splash-forming units (sfu) (N = 3).
One out of three samples positive after enrichment (i.e. <30 × cfu/volume of air sampled).
