Integrated model for fruit ripening. A close interaction occurring in immature fruits among phytohormones, reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS, respectively), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), melatonin and genes leads to a controlled physiological process (ripening) which can be also affected by the interaction with environmental stimuli.
