Oxidized samples (“ox”) were lysed with sample buffer lacking β-ME, while reduced samples (“red”) were lysed with sample buffer containing β-ME. Levels of GroEL served as a loading control. (B) An efficiency-of-plating assay was performed by spotting 10-fold dilutions of overnight cultures onto LB and minimal glucose plates. Plates were incubated at the indicated temperature.
