Note that in A and C, DsRed counterstains all tracheal cells, while in B and D DsRednls is employed in the same capacity. In D and Dā€™ compare the similar size of sprout and heterozygous control terminal cell nuclei (> points to terminal cell nuclei); this is in contrast to staining in terminal cells where endoreplication is blocked.
