For dogs weighing between 1 and 20 kg (BW, left hand column), the left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVIDD) meeting this criterion must be more than or equal to the dimension (in cm) in the right hand column. In the referenced clinical trial, the end‐diastolic LV dimension was obtained from a 2D short‐axis‐guided M‐mode echocardiogram of the chamber.55 The formula for normalizing LVIDD to BW is LVIDdN = LVIDd (cm)/weight (kg)0.294.
