The independent association of metformin and other factors with CAC scores. The multivariable logistic regression analysis demonstrated that metformin was negatively associated with CAC severity before (OR [95% CI] = 0.58 [0.35–0.96]; P = 0.035) and after propensity score matching (OR [95% CI] = 0.58 [0.34–0.99]; P = 0.048), while smoking (OR [95% CI] = 2.08 [1.01–4.24]; P = 0.046) and age (OR [95% CI] = 1.05 [1.02–1.09]; P = 0.003) were positively associated with CAC severity.
