Import of short-presequence containing I27 fusion proteins is susceptible to reduction of ΔΨ. In vitro import of the radiolabeled pb₂(35)-I27, pb₂(80)-I27, and pb₂(65)-I27 fusion proteins into mitochondria at 25 °C that were pre-treated with various concentrations of CCCP. PK-protected fractions were quantified and initial import rates were plotted against CCCP concentrations. Initial import rates for mitochondria without CCCP treatment are set to 100%.
