Analyses were adjusted for age, sex, inhaled corticosteroids, smoking status, calendar year, FEV₁% predicted, Medical Research Council Dyspnoea Scale, body mass index, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, peripheral vascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, renal failure and depression.
