Summary of GI designs present in the 22 sites sampled in New York City, NY.

GI design Definition (Green infrastructure annual report 2012)
ROWB Right of Way Bioswale: ROWB are constructed within sidewalks and are adjacent to the road– they are designed to catch street and sidewalk runoff by being positioned upstream of existing sewer catch basins; runoff is then directed to the vegetation in the system (NYC Environmental Protection, 2012)
ETP Enhanced Tree Pit: Contains a top layer of Technosol along with either glass, gravel as belowground storage for excess water (NYC Environmental Protection, 2010)
SSIS Street-side Infiltration Swale: Larger surface area than an ETP; contains one layer of top Technosol, and lacks belowground water storage. (NYC Environmental Protection, 2010)
VS Vegetated Swale: Areas of vegetation that are located in expansive areas such as parking lots etc. that vary in size and shape
UF Urban Forest: Dense collection of trees in an urban area. ∼ our site was at Alley Pond Park established in 1935 and is an irregular shaped area of land with dense canopy

All GI were constructed with Technosol from the same source with a high sand content (∼70–85%).
