Study Reason for exclusion
Bustos 1999 Trial protocol initially randomized participants to receive chloroquine or atovaquone‐proguanil. However, after 40 participants had been recruited, the cure rate for chloroquine was found to be < 35%, thus subsequent participants in the chloroquine arm were given sulfadoxine‐pyrimethamine in addition. This ultimately resulted in a 3‐arm study. Participants in the atovaquone‐proguanil arm at the time of the protocol amendment should have been separated from those who were recruited after the amendment in order to make the comparisons
