Methods Randomized (table of random numbers), parallel, double blind, placebo controlled
Follow up: until fever free for at least 24 hours
Participants 304 children aged 6 months to 6 years, rectal temperature ≥ 38 ºC with viral infection
Exclusion criteria: onset >4 days; bacterial infection; history of convulsion; fever ≥ 41 ºC
Interventions Paracetamol: 10 to 15mg/kg given 4 hourly versus placebo
