Experimental setup at the LULI2000 laser facility. The drive laser, interacts with the multi-layer target, creating a plasma flow travelling towards the obstacle. The interaction of a short-pulse laser with a wire target generates X-rays which are used to radiograph the plasma flow, with an image plate detector. An optical probe beam, orthogonal to the plasma flow is used to perform Schlieren imaging, and self-emission of the experiment is recorded on the same axis. A constant, homogeneous magnetic field of 15 T in the direction of the plasma flow is applied across the whole system.
