Figure 5. — Type I IFN plays an integral role in macrophage regulation of Mmp28 following stimulation with PAMP. Macrophage Mmp28 expression occurs following stimulation with LPS following a TLR4-TRIF-IFNAR1 dependent pathway that occurs independently of TLR2. In addition, poly(I:C) stimulation of macrophage Mmp28 occurs by a TRIF-IFNAR1-dependent pathway. Macrophages derived from Mmp28^−/− mice have increased Ccl2, Ccl4, Cxcl10, and Il6 compared with wild type macrophages following poly(I:C) stimulation.
