Reference strains T222+ and S24− were grown in either heterotrophic conditions (TAP, dark) or in photo-autotrophic conditions (MIN, HL). When reaching the stationary phase, the cultures were diluted in fresh media, and this was repeated for 2 mo, that is, ∼200 population doublings (PD) before TRF analysis. Triangle: band not seen in other TRF experiments.
