Expression of smRS-gfp in three different Hfx. volcanii strains. The transformants of Hfx. volcanii WFD11, H1224, and WR340 carry pP_fdxJB18 harboring the smgRS-gfp reporter under control of P_fdx. The fluorescence of the colonies was visualized under a fluorescence binocular (with blue light) and the fluorescence of cells by confocal laser scanning microscopy. Scale bars equal 10 μm in each case.
