Poa subgen. Stenopoa was originally misidentified as Festuca pseudovina (USDA, 2017a). After DNA barcoding of ETS and ITS nuclear genes, additional plastid genes/IGS (trnT-trnL-trnF, matK, trnC-rpoB) were also examined, as well as a morphological assessment; it was determined that this grass is identified as a member of the subgenus Stenopoa, however no specific determination could be made as to the exact species.
