Global function and decomposed motion of the right ventricle in a healthy subject (end-diastolic volume 92 mL, ejection fraction 63%). Shortening along the longitudinal axis is relatively easy to appreciate; however, significant systolic motion along the other two directions can also be observed by decomposing the motion of the right ventricle. By quantifying the relative contribution of these components, they appear to be roughly equal (longitudinal ejection fraction 24%, radial ejection fraction 25%, anteroposterior ejection fraction 23%)
