Metformin delays Pax7 downregulation. (a) SCs were isolated from C57BL/6 mice, attached onto plastic plates, and treated with 2 mM metformin for 2, 4, and 8 days. SCs were further analyzed by immunofluorescence microscopy for the expression of Pax7 and MyoD. (b) The percentage of cells expressing Pax7⁺/MyoD⁻, Pax7⁺/MyoD⁺, and Pax7⁻/MyoD⁺ after 2, 4, and 8 days of treatment with metformin was calculated in three independent cell isolations and experimental replicates (n = 3). Statistical significance was evaluated by the ANOVA test (^∗ p < 0.05).
