Silencing VDAC1 expression in the three tested cancer cell lines, regardless of their origin or carried mutations (A), resulted in reprograming of metabolism (B). This led to altered expression of master metabolism regulators (p53, HIF1-α, and c-Myc) and various genes (C) and to elimination of CSCs, while leading to cell differentiation (D).
