Identification of the cancer-derived mediators of MMT in PMCs. Expression of E-cadherin (a) and vimentin (b) in the PMCs whose exposure to autologous and cancer-derived CM was proceeded with a preincubation of the cancer-derived CM with specific neutralizing antibodies against HGF, TGF-β1, IGF-1, or EGF. Experiments were performed with eight separate cultures of PMCs obtained from different donors, with eight separate cultures of primary epithelial cancer cells (pEOC), and with eight separate cultures of each established cancer cell line.
