Echocardiography was performed in Normal mice, Sham, and AKI at 24 and 72 hours. Heart rate, ejection fraction, fractional shortening, left ventricular (LV) volume during diastole, LV volume during systole, and E/A were determined. E/A is the ratio of early diastolic filling pressure versus the atrial (late) diastolic filling pressure; the level of reduced E/A 72 hours after AKI is indicative of significant diastolic dysfunction.
