Schematic model for the PAQR-2 signaling-mediated longevity at low temperature. At low temperature, the adiponectin receptor PAQR-2 upregulates the expression of fat-7, which encodes a stearic CoA desaturase, by the nuclear receptor NHR-49 in worms. FAT-7 promotes the biosynthesis of two ω-6 PUFAs, γ-linolenic acid and arachidonic acid, which in turn induce autophagy. Increased autophagic activity in the epidermis delays an age-related decline in collagen contents to promote longevity
