Cell surface markers of vary between mesenchymal stem cells/multipotent stromal cells (MSCs). Human bone marrow-derived (BM)-MSCs share most of the markers such as CD44, CD73, CD90, and CD105 with adipose-derived (AD)-MSCs. CD106 and CD146 (outlined with the blue dotted line) are positive in BM-MSCs, but negative in AD-MSCs. Both are negative with CD31, CD45, and HLA-DR, whereas BM-MSCs are negative with CD34 and CD36 (outlined with the green dotted line), which are positive in AD-MSCs.
