Medicine versus nanomedicine. The scheme draws a parallel between classical medicine and the evolving nanomedicine. The major ways for disease diagnosis and treatment are outlined for both fields. Patient benefit from both approaches is also indicated. In contrast to classical medical care which in glioblastoma especially leads to frequent recurrence and short life expectancy, development of patient-tailored treatment in nanomedicine will lead to more cancer-free patients with prolonged life expectancy i.e., better quality of life.
