The main mechanisms by which substance/drug abuse may decrease testosterone levels and sperm production are: inhibition oh GnRH production/secretion, increase in prolactin levels, inhibition of gonadotropin production/secretion, inhibition of steroidogenesis, increase in testosterone metabolism, oxidative stress, induction of apoptosis.
