(A) Synthesis of the quinoxalylalkyne where R = -OH; -CH3; (B) reaction of the quinoxalylalkyne with (Et4N)[Tp*Mo(IV)(S)(S4)] to produce (Et4N)[Tp*Mo(IV)(S)(dithiolene-quinoxaline-R)]; (C) hydrolysis of the terminal sulfido ligand at Mo. (i) (PPh3)2PdCl2 CuI, Et3N, DMSO at 23 °C; (ii) CH3CN, 18–50 hrs at 23–45 °C; (iii) PBu3, 0.1% H2O in CH3CN, 1–2 hrs at 23 °C.
