(Clockwise from top) A partial liver resection is performed on the subject to provide a source of hepatocytes and stimulate liver regeneration. Hepatocytes are isolated from the resected liver (blue cells), transduced ex vivo with the lentiviral vector containing the transgene of interest (brown cells), and then the transduced cells are autologously transplanted back to the source animal via portal vein injection.
