Note the reduction in c-fos mRNA induction in the ventral lateral septum (LS), septohypothalamic nucleus (SHy), anteroventral preoptic area (PO), and paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus (PVN) in the MGN rat compared with the UNOP and SHAM rats. Similar c-fosinduction levels were observed, however, in rats from the three groups in the frontal (Fr), cingulate (Cg), lateralorbital (LO), and piriform (Pir) cortex.
