Single KD channels activated by short (80 msec) depolarizing pulses and the resulting ensemble average current are displayed in the series oftraces on the left. With long depolarizing pulses (1 sec) channel openings tend to cluster at the beginning of the pulse, producing an inactivating ensemble current (right traces).
