Effects of exogenous CO on the activity of soluble guanylyl cyclase. Soluble guanylyl cyclase was prepared as a 100,000 × g supernatant fraction from rat brain. The guanylyl cyclase activity was assayed in the presence of varying concentrations of exogenous CO as described in Materials and Methods. Data are presented as the mean of two to three independent experimental determinations.
