Capacity for afterdischarge increases during juvenile development. Only 1 of 39 preparations fromAplysia weighing <11 gm afterdischarged, whereas all preparations from animals weighing >50 gm afterdischarged. There is a clear transition period between 11 and 50 gm during which the percent of preparations that afterdischarge progressively increases.
