Responses of neurons in the buccal ganglia to bolus applications of CP2. A, Bolus application of 10−5m CP2 in nASW evokes rhythmic inputs into three ventral cluster motor neurons (B38,B8, and B7) and multifunctional neuron B4. B, Depolarization of B41 by bolus applications of CP2 at the indicated concentrations. B41 was identified by relative size and position and its synaptic connections to B4 and B13 (Ono, 1989). This experiment was performed in low Ca ASW to suppress chemical synaptic transmission. Similar results were obtained from B41 neurons in other preparations (7 of 7 analyzed).
