The boldface at 5' ends represents sequences for duplex stability, which provide resistance to RNase degradation. Boldface in the middle of a segment represents the site for hairpin loop folding. Boldface at the 3' region represent oligonucleotide overhangs, which are resistant to nuclease degradation.
