XopR suppresses the PCD in rice during infection. Leaves were inoculated (OD₆₀₀ = 1.0) using needleless syringe independently with Xoo wild, Xoo ΔxopR, Xoo ΔhrpX, Xoo ΔxopR + xopR. The inoculated leaves were excised after 7 dpi, photographed before (top panel in each row) and after staining with trypan blue (middle panel in each row) to indicate regions of PCD. Magnified microscopic view of the infiltrated regions of the respective leaves (bottom panel in each row). Cell death is directly proportional to the blue colored deposits in the infiltrated region.
